Ophthalmology, blood pressure, blood sugar, hepatitis: DGTCFM organises its first Health Morning for its staff

On Thursday, 25 June 2026, from 8 a.m., the meeting room of the General Treasury Pay Office was transformed into an open‑air screening centre. The programme included ophthalmological consultations, blood pressure measurement, blood sugar screening and hepatitis B and C tests — four essential health components brought together in a single morning, right at the workplace.
What if taking care of your staff started with taking care of their health? That was the bet made by the Staff Delegates' College of the Directorate General of the Treasury, Financial and Monetary Cooperation (DGTCFM), by organising this "Health Morning" for the benefit of the staff of the Central Services and the General Treasury Pay Office.
An approach born from listening to staff
This initiative is part of a broader social dialogue dynamic. The Staff Delegates' College coupled this operation with a listening session, distributing a questionnaire to staff to gather their impressions on their working conditions. A way of reminding us that, beyond figures and reports, a high‑performing administration rests above all on women and men who are in good health, both physically and socially.
Seeing clearly to work better
First stop on the health journey: ophthalmology. Armed with trial lenses and reading charts, practitioners examined staff members' eyesight, screened for refractive errors and gave personalised advice. A simple examination, but one that is too often neglected in daily professional life, even though good vision directly affects the quality and safety of office work.
🔍 Ophthalmological consultation — A simple step to preserve visual health, essential for office work.
Blood pressure, that silent barometer
Second step: blood pressure measurement, carried out for each participant using electronic monitors. Since hypertension is often asymptomatic, this routine screening makes it possible to detect at‑risk situations early and, if necessary, refer people for appropriate medical care.
Blood sugar, hepatitis B and C: tests to remove doubt
The most anticipated — and for some, the most dreaded — part was undoubtedly the blood tests. Capillary blood sugar to screen for diabetes, rapid tests for viral hepatitis B and C: each staff member was able, in just a few minutes, to get an update on health indicators that, if left unchecked, can progress silently for years.

A mobilisation worthy of the challenge
From the Directorate General to support staff, and from managers across various sub‑directorates, mobilisation was impressive. The exchanges, punctuated by smiles despite the needles and monitors, gave this morning the feel of a moment of cohesion as much as prevention.
In summary
By devoting an entire morning to screening for ophthalmological issues, hypertension, diabetes and viral hepatitis, the DGTCFM Staff Delegates' College sends a clear signal: the performance of an institution also depends on the well‑being of those who make it function. A simple, concrete initiative that deserves to be replicated in other organisations.
