As part of the regulation of the foreign exchange market and the fight against illicit financial transactions, the exercise of manual foreign exchange activities in Cameroon is subject to prior authorisation issued by the Monetary Authority (Minister of Finance), after receiving the assent of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC). Approved bureaux de change are authorised to buy and sell foreign currency against the local currency, in compliance with the regulations in force.
